214 Released Afghan Migrants Return from Pakistani Prisons

The Taliban’s Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation has announced that 214 Afghan migrants recently released from Pakistani prisons have returned to Afghanistan. According to the ministry, these individuals were freed from detention over the past week and transferred back to the country.

In a statement published Thursday on the ministry’s official X page, it was noted that these migrants had spent between one day and two months in detention. No details were provided regarding the reasons for their arrests.

According to the information provided, after being registered at transfer offices in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar province, these individuals received initial assistance from partner organizations. They were subsequently transported to their respective home provinces.

Spin Boldak is considered one of the major border crossings between Afghanistan and Pakistan, through which a significant portion of Afghan migrant traffic occurs. The detention and deportation of Afghan migrants from Pakistan has continued in recent months, with their repatriation process requiring organized management and sustained support from relevant authorities.
