Widespread Wildfire in Oklahoma Forces Thousands to Evacuate

A widespread wildfire in the U.S. state of Oklahoma has prompted local authorities to issue an immediate evacuation order for parts of the city of Woodward, forcing approximately 4,000 residents to leave their homes. According to reports, the fire was sparked by extreme heat and drought conditions in the region’s forests. Woodward, which has a population of around 12,000, has seen about one-third of its inhabitants affected by the incident. The fire reportedly began roughly 140 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, with strong southwest winds blowing at around 60 miles per hour intensifying the spread of the flames. Meanwhile, in recent days, the states of Texas, New Mexico, and Missouri have also experienced new wildfires. Local authorities have issued warnings about ongoing drought conditions and rising temperatures, urging residents to take safety measures seriously.
