Pakistani and Australian Officials Discuss Cross-Border Terrorism from Afghanistan

Muhammad Sadiq, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has announced a meeting with Timothy Kane, Australia’s High Commissioner in Islamabad, to discuss cross-border terrorism and the regional security situation.

On Monday, 27th Dalw, Sadiq wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) page that the meeting focused on issues related to regional security and challenges arising from the activities of armed cross-border groups. However, he did not provide further details on the topics discussed.

The issue of cross-border terrorism emanating from Afghan territory has become a serious concern for Pakistan in recent years. Pakistani officials have consistently emphasized that certain groups opposing Islamabad use Afghanistan as a base to organize and carry out attacks.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the Taliban administration to prevent the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from operating in Afghan territories and to stop allowing attacks against Pakistan from that country. Despite these requests, criticism regarding the Taliban’s handling of security threats continues, making this issue a key point of tension in bilateral relations.
