300 Afghan Migrants Rescued from Snow and Rain at Taybad Border

Local Iranian authorities have announced that around 300 Afghan migrants, stranded due to heavy snow and rain after illegally crossing the northeastern borders of Iran, were rescued by forces stationed in the area.

On Monday, February 15, IRNA news agency, quoting Hassan Jamshidi, the commander of Taybad district, reported that these individuals had been stranded in the border areas shared by Iran and Afghanistan amidst harsh weather conditions and were brought out of the difficult situation through the efforts of the armed forces.

According to Iranian officials, some of the migrants suffered from frostbite and colds, for which first aid and warm food were provided.

The Taybad commander further noted that after completing legal procedures, these individuals will be handed over to the Taliban administration. Taybad district is adjacent to the Islam Qala border, and the Islam Qala crossing, located approximately 18 kilometers from this district, is a primary transit route between the two countries.
