UNICEF Reports Over 20 Million People in Afghanistan Received Aid in 2025
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that in 2025, more than 20 million people across Afghanistan, including over 11 million children, received humanitarian assistance from the agency.
According to UNICEF, these supports were provided in an integrated manner across various sectors, including health, education, nutrition, and child protection, covering different regions of the country. The agency emphasized that each figure in these statistics represents a human life that gained access to vital services.
Afghanistan continues to face a widespread humanitarian crisis, with millions of residents in urgent need of aid. Restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration, particularly concerning women’s work in some organizations, have raised concerns over the years about the delivery of humanitarian services — an issue repeatedly warned about by aid agencies regarding its potential consequences.
Despite these challenges, international organizations report ongoing efforts to address the urgent needs of the Afghan people, stressing that maintaining unimpeded access to vulnerable areas is essential to prevent further deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
