Taliban’s Acting Minister of Migrants Meets Returnee Representatives, Emphasizes Winter Aid Distribution

The Taliban’s Ministry of Migrants and Returnees announced that Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the acting head of the ministry, along with Qari Mohammad Yousuf Ahmadi, Director General of National Radio and Television, met with several representatives of returnees to discuss their problems.
According to the ministry’s newsletter, the meeting focused on addressing the needs of returning migrants and providing urgent assistance. Mawlawi Abdul Kabir stated that the distribution of winter aid to returnees has begun and will continue in coordination with relevant organizations.
He described caring for the needy as the “responsibility” of the Taliban administration. This comes amid widespread reports that many returnees across various provinces face shortages of shelter, unemployment, and limited access to basic services, consistently calling for sustainable and transparent programs for housing and livelihoods.
Meanwhile, Qari Mohammad Yousuf Ahmadi praised the Taliban administration’s unprecedented efforts to resolve returnees’ issues and said that the media has helped raise public awareness, facilitating community cooperation. However, some social activists emphasize that effectively addressing the returnees’ situation requires long-term planning, transparent aid management, and clear accountability in response to their extensive needs.
