Iran Offers to Mediate Between Kabul and Islamabad Amid Rising Tensions

Following escalating tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Iran’s Foreign Ministry has announced Tehran’s readiness to play a role in easing the disputes between the two neighboring countries.
Mohammad Reza Bahrami, Director General of the South Asia Department at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, held a phone conversation on Sunday, October 12, with Mohammad Sadiq Khan, Pakistan’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, to discuss the latest regional developments, particularly the relations between Kabul and Islamabad.
During the call, Mr. Bahrami emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to cooperate in reducing tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan with the aim of strengthening regional stability and preventing further escalation of conflicts.
Both sides expressed their concerns about the current situation and underscored the necessity of restraint, enhancing regional cooperation, and seeking diplomatic solutions to avoid the spread of instability.
In recent days, military clashes between Pakistani forces and the Taliban have heightened concerns across the region. Simultaneously, countries including Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have called for dialogue among the parties to prevent a further crisis.
