Distribution of Wheat and Cash Begins for Returning Migrants in Laghman Province

The official distribution of wheat and cash assistance for 1,200 returning migrant families in Laghman province has commenced. Local Taliban officials stated that each family will receive five bags of wheat and 5,000 Afghanis in cash.

Mawlawi Suleiman Ayman, head of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Laghman, announced that the recipient families had previously been surveyed by the Directorate of Refugees. According to him, this aid is provided under the leadership of the Taliban administration to eligible families.

Qari Bakhtiar Moaz, governor of Laghman, said at the distribution ceremony that this support will continue and will not be limited to this phase. He added that the program aims to address the immediate needs of returning families.

Several returning families, welcoming the assistance, stated that this level of aid could fulfill part of their basic needs. However, many returning migrants across various provinces face extensive challenges related to shelter, employment, and access to essential services—issues that require transparent and sustainable planning by the Taliban administration.

It is reported that similar aid distributions are underway in several other provinces, aimed at meeting the food needs of returning families and strengthening social solidarity.
