Dr. Najibullah’s Daughter Condemns Taliban’s Harsh Policies Against Afghan Women

Hila Najib, daughter of Dr. Najibullah, former president of Afghanistan, has sharply criticized the Taliban administration’s policies against women, stating that women in Afghanistan have been deprived of work and social activities solely because of their gender.

In her remarks, she referenced the situation of a woman named “Nuriya,” who was forced to wear boys’ clothing to provide for her family’s livelihood, as there is no male head in her household, and women are currently not allowed to work. According to Hila Najib, such stories reflect the immense pressure imposed on Afghan women.

The daughter of the former Afghan president questioned how the Taliban administration could protect the interests of the people and the country while, in her view, foreign interests are prioritized over their own citizens. She emphasized that groups who put foreign interests above the needs and desires of the nation are incapable of ensuring national interests.

Hila Najib warned that depriving women of the right to work and participate socially will plunge Afghanistan into deep social and economic crises. She described this situation as a serious threat to the country’s future.

These criticisms come amid severe restrictions on the economic and social lives of women in Afghanistan. In some cases, girls are compelled to change their identity and appearance to secure a livelihood for their families—a situation that underscores the profound humanitarian crisis in the country.
