Afghan Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Mutaqi Meets Uzbek Delegation to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation

Amir Khan Mutaqi, acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for the Taliban administration, met with a delegation led by Jolan Vakhabov, head of Uzbekistan’s International Central Asia Institute and advisor to the country’s Vice President.
During the meeting, both sides focused on ways to strengthen political and economic cooperation between Kabul and Tashkent and discussed several important regional issues. These talks were part of the Taliban administration’s efforts to maintain and expand relations with neighboring countries.
Mutaqi, referring to Uzbekistan’s policy towards Afghanistan, said that Tashkent has pursued a positive and goodwill-based approach and expressed hope that bilateral relations and joint cooperation in various fields would further expand.
He also emphasized the role of research institutions in enhancing mutual understanding, developing cooperation, and providing realistic assessments of regional developments, highlighting the necessity of utilizing scientific capacities in this regard.
In response, Jolan Vakhabov praised what he described as “progress and stability” in Afghanistan and expressed optimism that trade levels between the two countries would increase this year and that economic cooperation would enter a new phase.
