Top ISIS Leader Killed in Iraqi Airstrike

An Iraqi security source has reported the death of a senior ISIS leader during an air operation carried out by Iraqi forces. The deceased, identified as Abu Hajar Al-Ani, was known within ISIS as the “Governor of Nineveh Island.” According to released information, the operation took place yesterday using Iraqi Army F-16 fighter jets and targeted parts of the Al-Hadr area. As a result of the attack, Abu Hajar Al-Ani and four other ISIS members were killed. The security source emphasized that Al-Ani was a key ISIS figure who played a prominent role in orchestrating attacks and terrorist activities in the Anbar and Nineveh provinces. His record included numerous acts of violence and insecurity in these regions. The source added that Iraqi forces had been seriously pursuing Al-Ani over the past months and, after identifying his hideout, launched the airstrike aimed at eliminating this ISIS leader.
