Over 158,000 Metric Tons of Cotton Produced in 17 Provinces of Afghanistan

The National Statistics and Information Authority reports that during the current year 1404 in the Afghan calendar, cotton cultivation has taken place in 17 provinces across the country, yielding a total production exceeding 158,000 metric tons.
According to this authority, Helmand province leads cotton production with approximately 75,000 metric tons. Following Helmand, Balkh province ranks second with about 34,000 metric tons.
Additionally, Kandahar and Jawzjan provinces have also made significant contributions to cotton output this year. Cotton farming is considered one of the important agricultural activities in several regions of the country and plays a vital role in the livelihoods of local residents.
