Thousands Gather in Caracas Demanding Maduro’s Release and Return

Thousands of Venezuelans gathered in Caracas, the capital, on Tuesday in a large protest demanding the freedom and return of Nicolás Maduro, the country’s president.

According to reports, protesters marched through parts of the city chanting, “Venezuela needs Nicolás.” Some participants carried images of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, who, according to them, were kidnapped together.

Many attendees wore red clothing and raised Venezuelan national flags across different areas of the city, symbols expressing their support for their president.

One participant told AFP that a sense of “confusion, sorrow, and anger” is widespread among the people. He identified Maduro’s detention as the main reason for the public demonstrations and added that despite feelings of despair and uncertainty, hope for the president’s freedom still remains alive among the protesters.
