Contract Signed to Rebuild 50 km of Qaisar–Laman Road in Afghanistan

The Public Works Directorate under the Taliban administration has announced the signing of a contract to rebuild 50 kilometers of the Qaisar–Laman road with a construction company. The official commencement of this project is expected to begin soon.
According to Mohammad Ashraf Haqshenas, spokesperson for the ministry, this section of the road starts from the Maymana district in Badghis province and extends towards the Bala Murghab district. The project’s funding will come from the Ministry of Public Works budget, and the completion period is anticipated to be three years.
Taliban officials emphasized that the Qaisar–Laman road is part of Afghanistan’s ring road and is listed among the ministry’s important infrastructure projects. The route has long faced serious traffic challenges due to its poor condition.
According to the provided information, once completed, the project is expected to facilitate easier travel for residents, improve the transportation of commercial goods and agricultural products, and reduce transportation costs. However, local experts have consistently stressed the importance of transparency in project implementation, continuous monitoring, and preventing lengthy delays—a matter that has been criticized in many infrastructure projects under the Taliban administration.
