WFP Provides Food Aid to Over 730,000 Residents of Herat Amid Harsh Winter Conditions

The World Food Programme (WFP) reports that despite snowfall, severe cold, and some blocked routes, its convoys have managed to deliver food and nutritional assistance to hundreds of thousands of residents in Herat province. According to released information, these aid efforts reached more than 730,000 people across various areas of Herat last month, distributed to support families during the winter season. The agency stated that food supplies were transported through mountainous routes and along frozen rivers, paths that are constantly fraught with natural hazards and logistical difficulties. The continued extensive need for humanitarian aid in Afghanistan, while the Taliban administration holds control over the country, indicates that many families still cannot meet their basic winter needs without external support — a situation that has heightened concern among relief organizations.
