Nangarhar Youth Demand Continued Education and Job Opportunities

A number of young graduates holding bachelor’s degrees from private universities in Nangarhar province say the lack of educational and employment opportunities has seriously clouded their future prospects. These youths are urging the Taliban administration to provide pathways for continuing education up to the master’s and doctoral levels within the country.
According to them, the limited educational options after completing a bachelor’s degree have either left many young people idle at home or compelled them to consider leaving the country—a situation that could have negative social and economic consequences for Afghanistan. They emphasize that investing in higher education is one of the fundamental needs of the country’s young society.
Alongside the demand for continued education, these young people insist on the creation of job opportunities, stating that the absence of employment has rendered their skills and expertise unused. Critics argue that until now, the Taliban administration has not presented a clear and comprehensive plan for integrating educated youth, and this gap has further eroded the trust of the younger generation.
