Venezuela’s Interim President Declares General Amnesty for Political Offenses Since 1999

Venezuela’s interim president announced the implementation of a general amnesty law for individuals convicted of political crimes since 1999. According to Rodríguez, this decision covers the entire period he referred to as the “era of political violence,” aiming to end the legal consequences of these cases.
Rodríguez explained the move, saying, “We have decided to apply the general amnesty law that encompasses the entire political period marked by violence from 1999 to the present.”
This amnesty declaration comes amid years of political tensions and widespread internal disputes in Venezuela, where addressing political cases has consistently been a central issue of national debate.
