Taliban Reports Over 40 Active Political Representations Abroad Amid Expanding Diplomatic Ties

Amir Khan Muttaqi, acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration, announced that the group currently maintains more than 40 active political representations outside Afghanistan. He stated that diplomatic relations with regional and global countries are expanding.
Muttaqi made these remarks during a meeting held at the presidential palace aimed at praising what was described as “cultural and literary fighters.” Without providing further details, he added that the Taliban administration’s foreign contacts and interactions have increased compared to the past.
This comes despite claims of expanding foreign relations, as the Taliban administration has not yet been officially recognized by the international community. Many countries continue to limit their interactions to unofficial and restricted levels.
Political analysts have repeatedly stressed that the lack of international legitimacy, concerns over human rights, and extensive social restrictions—especially affecting women and the media—remain major challenges in normalizing Afghanistan’s foreign relations.
