Iran’s Foreign Minister to Visit Turkey for Talks on Bilateral Relations and Regional Security

According to information released by sources from Turkey’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Iran’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Ankara tomorrow for a meeting and talks with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan.

These sources stated that the meeting will emphasize the importance of Iran-Turkey relations as two countries with historic ties; relations that Ankara views as vital to regional security, stability, and prosperity. It is also expected that Turkey’s determination to expand bilateral cooperation through mechanisms such as the High-Level Cooperation Council, established in 2014, will be highlighted.

The sources added that both sides intend to stress the necessity of intensifying joint efforts to increase the level of bilateral trade. Within this framework, strengthening cooperation in trade, energy, transportation, and connectivity, including border trade centers, will be among the topics discussed.

Based on this information, Turkey regards the security and stability of Iran as highly important, especially in light of recent developments in Iran, and will express its opposition to any military intervention. Ankara continues to emphasize resolving tensions through dialogue and achieving a peaceful solution regarding Iran’s nuclear program and expresses its readiness to cooperate in this regard.

Furthermore, concerns about the activities of the Iranian branch of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, known as PJAK, are expected to be raised during the visit, with emphasis on the impact of this issue on regional security.
