Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur to Resign Amid Internal PTI Changes

Ali Amin Gandapur, the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and a senior figure in the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, announced on Wednesday, October 8, that he intends to resign from his position soon. This statement comes amid internal developments within the party.
According to Pakistani media reports, Gandapur’s decision became public when Salman Akram Raja, the Secretary-General of PTI, confirmed that Imran Khan, the party’s leader and founder, had nominated Sohail Afridi as the new candidate for the executive chief position of the province.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, located in northwestern Pakistan, shares a long border with Afghanistan. The political developments in this province occur at a time when relations between the two countries are also influenced by the actions of the Taliban administration.
Regional political experts say that a change in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s leadership could have implications for security and cross-border interactions with Afghanistan, especially given the Taliban administration’s destabilizing border activities and repeated support for extremist groups, which has heightened concerns.
