Afghan Meteorological Department Warns of Rain and Snow Across Seven Provinces

The Meteorological Department of the Taliban’s Ministry of Transport and Aviation has issued a warning about the likelihood of rain and snowfall in seven provinces of Afghanistan. This weather phenomenon may disrupt daily life and transportation in these areas.

According to a statement released by the department on Tuesday, January 25, the provinces expected to be affected are Badakhshan, Nuristan, Kunar, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kapisa, and Panjshir. The precipitation is predicted to begin from tomorrow.

The statement notes that rainfall amounts are forecasted to range between 10 to 25 millimeters in various locations, with snow accumulation potentially reaching between 10 to 25 centimeters. Such conditions, particularly in mountainous regions, increase the risk of road closures.

Meanwhile, the Taliban administration reported that over 61 people have lost their lives during recent rainfall events in the country. This statistic has further raised concerns regarding the lack of preparedness, weak crisis management, and insufficient attention to the safety of residents against natural disasters.
