Kabul Residents Complain About Difficulties in Obtaining Work Permits

Residents of Kabul city have voiced complaints about the complexity and lengthiness of the work permit application process and the distance of the relevant administrative offices, describing it as a serious daily challenge. According to these citizens, the offices involved in issuing work permits are scattered across different parts of the city, and the lack of coordination among these entities causes confusion, wasting time, and increasing travel costs. Several residents told media outlets that they are forced to visit remote locations multiple times to complete a single application. Some residents say that the absence of administrative ease, complicated procedures, and non-transparent interactions have made obtaining work permits particularly difficult for job seekers, daily wage workers, and low-income individuals. They believe that this situation limits employment opportunities and increases economic pressure. Meanwhile, administrative experts emphasize that simplifying the procedures, reducing bureaucracy, and creating a coherent mechanism can improve citizens’ access to services. However, the Taliban administration has so far taken no effective measures to reform these processes, fueling widespread dissatisfaction among Kabul’s residents.
