EU Invests Six Million Euros to Improve Children’s Access to Quality Education in Afghanistan

On the occasion of International Education Day, the European Union announced it is investing six million euros through the “FAKHR” project to enhance access to quality education for children in Afghanistan. This funding focuses on children who have been most affected by educational restrictions.
According to information released by the European Union, the program includes support for children who have dropped out of school, as well as girls and children with disabilities who have faced significant educational barriers in recent years. The EU emphasized that the primary goal is to provide equal educational opportunities for all children.
The European Union added that under this project, learning environments will be designed to be safe, gender-responsive, and meet quality education standards—an especially crucial factor considering the current conditions in Afghanistan and the restrictions imposed by the Taliban administration.
The international organization also stated that through various programs and in collaboration with partner institutions across Afghanistan, it is striving to ensure that no child is deprived of education. The EU views this support as a demonstration of its continuing commitment to education in Afghanistan.
Previously, the European Union had also announced an additional allocation of 25 million euros through the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to support students in Afghanistan.
