Trump Announces US-NATO Agreement Framework on Greenland Deal

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, announced that during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, both sides have reached an understanding on the “framework” of an agreement related to Greenland. According to him, if finalized, this deal could represent a significant achievement for the US and all NATO member countries.
Trump wrote on the social media platform Truth Social that this understanding was reached following a “very constructive” meeting with the NATO Secretary General. The issue is not limited to Greenland alone but also encompasses the entire Arctic region, an area that has gained increasing strategic and security importance in recent years.
The US President also stated that based on this initial understanding, tariffs that were supposed to be implemented from February 1st will not be applied for the time being. He described this decision as part of the confidence-building process during the ongoing talks.
Trump added that separate discussions are also underway regarding the “Iron Dome” defense system and its potential connection to Greenland. More information will be provided to the media as negotiations progress.
According to him, the responsibility for advancing the negotiations has been assigned to Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Representative Steve Whitcaff, and, if necessary, other officials. They will report the outcomes of the talks directly to the President.
