Pakistan Continues to Insist on Written Guarantees from the Taliban

Tahir Andrabi, spokesman for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, stated that Islamabad’s demands from the Taliban have not changed and that obtaining written and verifiable guarantees remains a priority.

Andrabi expressed hope that a response will be received from Kabul on this matter.

Regarding diplomatic relations between the Taliban and India, he described it as a bilateral issue.

According to him, Islamabad does not consider these collaborations a “zero-sum game” as long as there is no support for terrorist elements against Pakistan.

Andrabi emphasized that preventing the use of Afghan soil against Pakistan’s security is the main focus of Islamabad’s demands from the Taliban.

The Taliban and Pakistan have so far held three rounds of talks in Qatar and Istanbul.

Although the first round resulted in a ceasefire agreement, subsequent stages did not produce a more comprehensive deal due to Pakistan’s insistence on receiving written guarantees.
