Indian Investors Seek to Produce Building Paint in Kandahar

The Kandahar Department of Industry and Mines has announced that a group of Muslim Indian investors intends to invest in the building paint production sector in the province; an initiative that officials say could help boost the construction industry.

Syed Sarwar Amani, head of the Kandahar Chamber of Industries and Mines, said in a meeting with these investors that the department supports investment in this sector and is ready to cooperate within existing capacities.

He also claimed that following the Taliban administration’s takeover of Afghanistan, several foreign investors have shown interest in investing in the country, particularly investors from India, China, and some other countries. This comes despite significant challenges such as lack of legal transparency, international sanctions, and extensive restrictions that continue to hinder foreign investment in Afghanistan.

According to local officials, if this investment materializes, it would facilitate the production of quality building paint products and create new job opportunities for local residents; a development that could be crucial for local workers amid the ongoing economic downturn.
