Free Educational Programs Expanded for Youth in Khost Amid Economic Hardships

In Khost province, free educational programs have been launched for a significant number of students and university attendees in both academic and technical fields. These initiatives aim to support young people facing difficult economic conditions.

Participants in these programs have welcomed the opportunity, emphasizing that given widespread poverty and unemployment, it is necessary to extend such training so that more youth can benefit from free general and technical education.

The Youth Affairs Department of the Information and Culture Directorate in Khost, operating under the Taliban administration, has announced plans to increase enrollment from approximately 500 to 1,000 individuals. The department stresses that the primary priority is needy and impoverished youth.

Eshaq Omari, head of youth affairs at this directorate, stated that currently around 480 people are receiving training in fields such as computer skills, English language, public speaking, management, and Tajweed (Quranic recitation rules). Programs to raise this number are underway.

Meanwhile, some young people and residents of Khost have called for private educational centers, in cooperation with responsible organizations, to offer free training during the winter holidays for financially disadvantaged students. This demand, if realized, could help address existing educational gaps.
