Charitable Organization Hosts Group Wedding Ceremony for 130 Couples in Herat

In Herat province, a charitable organization, with its own financial support, organized a group wedding ceremony for 130 couples. According to the organizers, these couples had been unable to start their married lives for years due to economic hardships and the inability to cover the heavy costs of marriage.

Abdul Haq Siddiqi, an official of this organization, stated that costly customs and expenses, which lack religious and legal backing, have made marriage difficult for many young people. He added that extravagance at ceremonies not only increases the economic burden on families but has also forced some youths to leave the country in search of work to finance marriage costs.

Some of the grooms participating in the ceremony said that, due to unemployment and poverty, they have repeatedly traveled to Iran for labor work to gather money for the bride price and other marriage expenses. They emphasized that wearing wedding attire and beginning their married lives at this ceremony was a hopeful and unique moment for them.

The rising costs of marriage and the lack of sustainable job opportunities in the country, especially under the current Taliban administration, have made labor migration a compulsory option for many young people. Social experts believe this situation requires serious attention from responsible institutions and practical solutions to support the youth and alleviate economic pressures.
