Russia Says Ukrainian Drones Launched from Sumy and Chernihiv in Attack on President Putin’s Residence

The commander of the Russian Aerospace Forces’ air defense missile units announced that the drones targeting the country’s president’s residence were launched from the Sumy and Chernihiv regions of Ukraine, with attempts to attack coming from multiple directions.
Alexander Romanenkov, citing Russian state media, said evidence of this air assault was identified at around 19:20 Moscow time on Wednesday, December 28. According to him, Kyiv attempted to simultaneously use several routes to direct the drones toward Vladimir Putin’s residence.
He added that the operation was “purposeful and precisely planned”; however, after repelling the attack, no casualties or material damage were reported on Russian soil.
Romanenkov emphasized that in neutralizing the attempt, Russian air defense teams and electronic warfare units acted in a coordinated and effective manner. No further details were provided regarding the number of drones or the type of equipment used.
