Salang Highway Reopens to Passenger Vehicles After Heavy Snowfall

The Ministry of Public Works has announced that the Salang Highway, which had been closed for several hours due to heavy snowfall, is now open to all passenger vehicles.

According to the ministry, the severe snowfall that began Monday night had completely halted traffic on this vital route, which connects the northern and southern parts of the country and plays a crucial role in residents’ travel and goods transportation.

Officials from the Ministry of Public Works added that currently, freight vehicles except for trailer trucks have been allowed to travel from north to south, and efforts to fully clear the road continue.

The ministry emphasized that efforts are ongoing to facilitate the passage of trailer trucks so that traffic on the Salang Highway can return to normal in full.
