Taliban Administration Releases List of Foreign Relations and Trips for 2025

Hamdullah Fetrat, Deputy Spokesperson of the Taliban administration, published a list on the social media platform X on Wednesday outlining what he described as the “political achievements” of the administration in 2025. The list mostly includes foreign trips made by officials, participation in meetings, and some developments in regional relations.
According to the statement, several ministers and Taliban officials traveled this year to countries including Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, India, Saudi Arabia, Azerbaijan, and Morocco. It also noted the establishment of a Taliban representative office in Moscow and participation in forums such as the Doha Forum, the Moscow format, and regional specialized congresses.
The list highlights events such as handing over the Afghan embassy in Tashkent to Taliban representatives, involvement in certain international economic and transport organizations, signing an agreement for the Turghundi-Herat railway project with Kazakhstan, and raising the level of relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan to ambassadorial status.
It is also claimed that the process of issuing passports to Afghans in the German city of Bonn has resumed after a pause of several years, and that India has increased its level of representation in Kabul. The Taliban administration regards these developments as signs of expanding foreign interactions.
However, critics emphasize that listing trips and meetings cannot replace resolving the crisis of political legitimacy, international isolation, and widespread human rights concerns within the country. They believe that as long as restrictions on fundamental citizen rights, especially those of women and girls, persist, these diplomatic activities cannot be considered real acceptance of Afghanistan in the international community.
