Jowzjan Officials Warn of Declining Groundwater and Rising Air Pollution

Local officials in Jowzjan province have issued warnings about the decreasing levels of groundwater and the spreading air pollution, urging residents to avoid excessive water consumption and unauthorized tree cutting.
These concerns were raised during a program titled “Public Awareness on Climate Change,” organized by the Jowzjan Information and Culture Directorate in coordination with the province’s Environmental Protection Directorate to raise public awareness.
At the opening ceremony, Mawlawi Saifuddin Moatasem, Head of Information and Culture in Jowzjan, stated that climate change and the reduction of water resources are serious challenges for the province. He emphasized that protecting the environment and preventing water wastage is the responsibility of all citizens, and excessive water use must be avoided.
According to him, the rational use of water and refraining from polluting the air can play an effective role in reducing the negative impacts of climate change.
Simultaneously, Qari Abdulhai Omar Mukhtar, Head of Environmental Protection in Jowzjan, described the decrease in groundwater and air pollution as serious problems and urged people to participate in greening efforts in the area. Referring to the beginning of the planting season, he stressed the importance of each individual planting at least one sapling.
The Environmental Protection Chief also called on residents to prevent the excessive cutting of forests and trees, noting that green environments play a vital role in reducing air pollution.
Meanwhile, Seyed Aref Yardam, General Director of Public Awareness at the Environmental Protection Directorate in Jowzjan, considered such programs effective in mitigating the negative effects of climate change.
