Russian Duma Speaker Demands Severe Response to Ukrainian Drone Attack on Putin’s Residence

The Speaker of the Russian Duma declared that the Ukrainian drone attack on the residence of Russian President Vladimir Putin is a serious matter and that Moscow will not leave it unanswered. He emphasized that the Russian legislative body insists on a harsh response to Kyiv’s action.
Vyacheslav Volodin, Speaker of the Russian Duma, stated in a declaration that members of the parliament consider the attack on the president’s residence a crossing of critical security lines and believe such an act must be met with a strong response. According to him, the incident signals an escalation of tensions in the ongoing war between the two countries.
Volodin also alleged that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, by continuing military operations, is attempting to halt any progress toward agreements and undermine the achievements of previous talks. He described the continuation of the war as Zelensky’s only chance to remain in power.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced on Monday that Ukraine targeted the Russian president’s residence in the Novgorod region with drones last night. Lavrov stated that Russia will not tolerate this attack but does not intend to abandon the negotiation process because of this event.
The Foreign Minister added that 91 drones were used in the operation, all of which were reportedly shot down according to Russian officials. These statements come as the war in Ukraine remains one of the most intense and volatile security crises on the international stage.
