Heavy Rain and Harsh Winter Deepen Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has warned that continuous rainfall and the cold winter have worsened the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. According to the agency, thousands of residents are spending their days and nights in fragile, waterlogged tents and amidst the rubble.
UNRWA adds that these harsh conditions are a continuation of the suffering imposed on the people of Gaza for over two years, accompanied by despair, illness, and death. The severe winter has further diminished the survival chances of families without safe shelter.
The agency emphasizes that this disaster is “not inevitable” and that its severity can be reduced through effective access to humanitarian aid. However, UNRWA states that regular and sufficient entry of aid supplies into Gaza is not permitted, making global accountability and the removal of barriers an urgent demand.
