New Prisoner Swap Agreement in Yemen Paves Way for Field Committees to Address Missing Persons

A senior official from the Prisoners Committee in Sanaa announced that a new agreement between the conflicting parties in Yemen for prisoner exchange and the handover of bodies has laid the groundwork for the formation of field committees. According to him, this move could help clarify the fate of thousands of missing individuals in the ongoing war.
Abdulqader Al-Murtada, head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affiliated with the Ansarullah Movement, told the media that the agreement represents a significant step toward shedding light on the missing persons issue, and the establishment of field committees could facilitate the investigation and follow-up process on these cases.
Emphasizing the importance of this process, he refrained from providing further details about the mechanisms, composition, and commencement timing of these committees, stating that additional information will be announced at the appropriate time.
Under this agreement, the government based in Aden, supported by Riyadh, and the Ansarullah-affiliated administration in Sanaa have reached an understanding to exchange approximately three thousand prisoners. According to Al-Murtada, 1,700 prisoners affiliated with Sanaa are to be exchanged for 1,200 prisoners held by the opposing side, including seven Saudi citizens and 23 Sudanese nationals.
The head of the National Committee for Prisoners also expressed appreciation for the role of Omani officials in hosting the prisoner exchange talks and facilitating progress in these negotiations.
