Afghan UN Rights Envoy Calls General Akramuddin Sarir’s Killing a Terrorist Attack

Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council, described the killing of General Akramuddin Sarir as a coordinated terrorist attack and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.

In a message posted on the social media platform X early Thursday morning, January 4th, Andisha stated that General Akramuddin Sarir was targeted and killed in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Without providing further details, he emphasized the terrorist nature of the event.

The Afghan representative to the Human Rights Council expressed condolences to the forces known as the ‘Stronghold of Resistance against Taliban Ignorance and Intimidation,’ stating that it is expected the case be seriously pursued and the perpetrators identified and apprehended.

He added that every assassination carries a clear message—the urgent necessity of united resistance against violence and targeted elimination, a phenomenon that in recent years, coinciding with the Taliban’s rule, has raised widespread human rights concerns.

This stance comes amid previous reports about attacks on former Afghan military and security figures in Iran—incidents that so far have lacked transparent and satisfactory explanations.
