Missile Fired from Yemen Shuts Down Ben Gurion Airport

A missile launched from Yemen shortly after midnight on Monday triggered widespread air raid sirens across central Israel, forcing the complete suspension of flights at Ben Gurion Airport. Hebrew media reported that sirens were heard in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and several areas of the West Bank.
According to local reports, the Yemeni missile’s warhead split into multiple re-entry vehicles upon entering Israeli airspace. Footage shared on social media appeared to show Israel’s defense systems struggling in confusion to respond.
The Israeli military claimed it had tracked and intercepted the missile, though widespread alarms in more than 200 locations reported by Hebrew sources cast doubt on the readiness of Israeli forces.
The incident comes just two days after Yemeni forces carried out a special operation using a Palestine-2 ballistic missile with multiple warheads, striking targets near the occupied coastal city of Jaffa. At that time, Yemeni military spokesman Yahya Saree said the action was in support of Palestinian fighters and had already paralyzed flights at the Lod airport.
With such attacks now recurring and Israel’s defensive weaknesses increasingly exposed, regional analysts warn of serious security implications as the conflict in the occupied territories escalates further.
