Iraq Conducts Successful Special Security Operation Inside Syrian Territory

A senior Iraqi security official announced that Iraqi forces have successfully carried out a targeted special operation inside Syrian territory; an operation that, according to him, demonstrates significant progress in Iraq’s intelligence capabilities.

Saad Ma’an, head of the information department of Iraq’s security forces, stated that during this operation, two individuals were arrested in Syria who played a key role in transferring weapons and terrorist elements toward Iraq’s borders. He explained that these individuals acted as a link between camps stationed in Syrian territory and active networks inside Iraq.

According to Ma’an, this operation was conducted after about five months of careful surveillance and precise intelligence tracking, aiming to cut off the route used for transferring terrorist elements and military equipment into Iraq.

The security official emphasized that the operation was executed with speed and high accuracy, and necessary security coordination had been conducted with Syrian parties regarding this matter. Iraqi security forces officially announced the operation inside Syria last Thursday.
