Over 5,000 Afghan Migrants Returned in One Day from Iran and Pakistan

According to an official report from the High Commission for Migration Affairs, more than 5,000 Afghan migrants were returned to Afghanistan from neighboring countries Iran and Pakistan in a single day. This information was released by Hamdullah Fetrat, deputy spokesperson for the Taliban administration.
The report states that 981 families, totaling 5,412 individuals, entered Afghanistan on Saturday via various routes. These migrants crossed into the country through the Islam Qala border in Herat, the Silk Bridge in Nimroz, Spin Boldak in Kandahar, Bahramcha in Helmand, and Torkham in Nangarhar.
Officials said that among these returnees, 1,283 families comprising 5,992 people have been relocated to their main residential areas, and 894 families have received humanitarian aid. Additionally, telecommunications companies distributed SIM cards to 861 migrants.
This follows a similar return of over 5,000 Afghan migrants from Iran and Pakistan the previous day. The continuing flow has raised concerns about livelihoods, access to services, and the capacity to absorb returnees within Afghanistan. It is expected that the Taliban administration and relevant agencies will implement more transparent programs to address the urgent needs of these migrants.
