Iran Invites Taliban’s Acting Foreign Minister to Visit Tehran

Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has extended an invitation to Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Taliban’s acting foreign minister, to visit Tehran.
According to a statement issued by the Taliban-run Foreign Ministry, Mohammad Reza Bahrami, head of the Asia Department at Iran’s Foreign Ministry, presented the official invitation during a meeting with Muttaqi.
The meeting was held as part of ongoing bilateral discussions. During the talks, Bahrami shared details of a recent regional summit hosted by Tehran, emphasizing Iran’s commitment to fostering relations with Afghanistan.
Muttaqi reportedly stated that Afghanistan has emerged from a ‘difficult’ phase and should no longer be viewed as a ‘problem’ in regional politics. He added that the Taliban administration seeks active, cooperative relations with neighboring countries, based on its core foreign policy principles.
The Taliban’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that Muttaqi exchanged his views on the Tehran regional summit with Bahrami, though no further details were disclosed.
