Afghan Health Delegation Visits Iran to Boost Pharmaceutical Cooperation

An official delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Food and Medicine from Afghanistan’s Ministry of Public Health has traveled to Iran for talks focusing on strengthening bilateral pharmaceutical cooperation.

According to the Ministry of Public Health, the Afghan delegation met with Dr. Mehdi Pirsalehi, Iran’s Deputy Health Minister and head of the country’s Food and Drug Organization. The Afghan delegation included heads of departments responsible for drug and food evaluation and registration, technical advisors in the food and medicine sectors, and representatives from import sectors.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening regulatory and commercial ties, exchanging professional experiences, technical cooperation, and implementing existing memorandum agreements. Discussions also focused on enhancing the capacity of Afghan professionals and facilitating the import process of food and medicine to Afghanistan.

The Ministry said that a high-level Iranian delegation had previously visited Kabul to discuss expanding cooperation and simplifying the import procedures for food and medicine. These exchanges are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen regional collaboration and improve access to quality food and pharmaceutical products for the Afghan population.
