UN Stresses Stronger Coordination and Sustainable Support for Afghanistan
Ramiz Alakbarov, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan, has stated that he discussed the current situation in Afghanistan during a meeting with the UN Secretary-General.
He emphasized that the resilience of the Afghan people remains central to the UN’s mission, and effective support for them requires strong coordination across the UN system as well as sustainable and predictable backing from donor organizations.
Alakbarov added that such coordination can help empower local communities to withstand ongoing challenges. International affairs experts also believe that, as the Taliban administration restricts free access for humanitarian agencies in some areas, the UN’s role in coordinating and monitoring aid efforts has become more critical than ever.
