Lebanese PM Accuses Israel of Violating Ceasefire Agreement

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam has stated that Lebanon is no longer in a state of peace due to continued attacks and military violations by Israel. He said that Israel has not adhered to the ceasefire agreement and continues to occupy parts of Lebanese territory.
Salam added that Israel should have withdrawn from all occupied Lebanese areas ten months ago but has yet to do so. He emphasized that the presence of Israeli forces in southern Lebanon is unjustifiable and that Israel violates Lebanon’s national sovereignty on a daily basis.
Meanwhile, Lebanese Deputy Prime Minister Tarek Mitri warned that any renewed conflict in the south would be initiated solely by Israel. He stressed that the Lebanese government seeks an end to Israeli attacks, the withdrawal of occupying forces from Lebanese land, and the extension of the state’s authority across the entire country.
Mitri also noted that no group in Lebanon wishes for a civil war and that the government is using all available means to prevent such a crisis. He described Lebanon’s current relationship with Syria as the best in fifty years, based on mutual respect.
