Taliban Envoy Meets Head of Iran-Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce in Tehran

Mawlawi Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, the Taliban-appointed chargé d’affaires at the Afghan Embassy in Tehran, recently met with Mahmoud Siyyadat, the head of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce.

According to a statement from the Afghan Embassy in Tehran, which operates under Taliban control, the meeting aimed to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries. The embassy’s press office said that Haqqani welcomed the participation of Iranian traders in exhibitions held in Afghanistan and noted that efforts to strengthen trade relations between Kabul and Tehran will continue. He also stated that the embassy will persist in providing services to Iranian traders.

During the meeting, Mahmoud Siyyadat expressed gratitude for the embassy’s efforts in facilitating visa issuance for Iranian businessmen, calling it an effective step toward advancing economic relations between the two countries. He added that visits by Iranian investors to Afghanistan have contributed to a more positive perception of the country’s economic environment.

Such meetings take place even as the Taliban administration, despite widespread domestic and international criticism and lacking official international recognition, continues to seek to bolster its regional role through economic channels.
