Qatar Calls for More International Aid for Afghan Returnees

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the country’s permanent mission in Geneva took part in a high-level dialogue on Afghan migrants and returnees.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 77th session of the Executive Committee of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. At the meeting, Qatar’s mission expressed concern over Afghanistan’s humanitarian, economic and development challenges following the large-scale return of migrants.
The Qatari mission called for increased international assistance and the continuation of constructive dialogue with Afghanistan. It also urged that essential services, shelter, education and job opportunities be provided for returnees.
Qatar’s Foreign Ministry added that the country will continue its support for Afghanistan’s education, health and livelihoods sectors.
