Construction of 54km Rural Road Network Begins in Ghor Province

The Directorate of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in Ghor Province has officially launched the construction and reconstruction of 54 kilometers of rural roads across the districts of Dawlina, Taywara, Shahrak, and Chahar Sada.

According to the department, these projects are funded by the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, and are expected to provide employment opportunities for hundreds of local laborers. Residents of these areas have long struggled with transportation challenges, and the lack of standard roads has significantly limited their access to essential services.

Meanwhile, two water supply networks have been completed and inaugurated in the villages of Qahtaba and Kat in Khas Uruzgan district of Uruzgan Province. These networks include the drilling of two deep wells, the construction of two water storage tanks with capacities of 50 and 30 cubic meters respectively, installation of 152 water taps, 30 solar panels, and over eight kilometers of piping.

The Ministry states that the completion of these projects has created dozens of jobs and provided more than 400 families with clean drinking water. While such initiatives address some urgent needs in remote areas, the development of sustainable infrastructure still faces challenges such as limited resources and weak management under the Taliban administration.

The lack of transparency in project implementation and the absence of effective oversight from independent institutions have raised concerns over the quality and equitable distribution of these services. In the absence of an accountable government, many projects risk serving as propaganda tools for the Taliban rather than addressing fundamental problems.
