Taliban Education Minister Admits Afghanistan’s Airspace Remains Under Foreign Control

Habibullah Agha, the Taliban’s acting minister of education, has admitted that Afghanistan’s airspace remains under the control of foreign forces, and that the Taliban administration is unable to regain it.

Speaking at a gathering in Paktia province, Agha said U.S. drones continue to fly over Afghanistan at night without obstruction and that the current authorities are powerless to stop these intrusions.

Highlighting global technological advancements, he stated: “The world has now reached a stage where they build drones and attack the airspace of you and me.” He openly conceded that the Taliban government lacks the capability to “liberate” the country’s skies.

His remarks come as the Taliban struggle to establish full control over Afghanistan’s land and air borders since retaking power. A lack of technical capacity, international recognition, and growing isolation are seen as major barriers preventing the Taliban from asserting national sovereignty.
