New pact signed to ease Afghan carpet exports to European markets

An Afghan company and an Austrian company have taken a new step toward facilitating the export of Afghan carpets to European markets by signing a cooperation memorandum.
The memorandum was signed on the sidelines of the Imam Abu Hanifa National and International Exhibition in Kabul.
Under the agreement, the Austrian company is set to cooperate in the areas of design, layout, marketing and creating export opportunities to help Afghan carpets reach foreign markets.
Fritz Langauer, an Austrian trader, said Afghan carpets match the needs of European markets in terms of colour, raw materials, design and quality.
The cooperation is expected to help expand the market for Afghan carpets, increase exports and support domestic producers.
