Taliban Says Dozens of Military Vehicles Repaired in Panjshir

The Taliban administration’s army chief’s press office has said that in the past three months it has “repaired and restored” dozens of military vehicles in Panjshir province, a claim that, despite its significance for assessing the administration’s logistical capacity, was not accompanied by any photos or video.

According to the office, 10 Humvees, 301 Rangers, 62 Toyota Hilux vehicles, six Land Cruisers, five FJ Cruisers and “a number of other” military vehicles were repaired at the Taliban administration’s “army brigade” headquarters in Panjshir and are now back in service.

The claim comes as the Taliban administration maintains a heavy military presence in Panjshir, but has not provided specific information on the number of personnel deployed in the province.

Residents of Panjshir have previously complained about the pressure caused by the Taliban administration’s extensive military presence, as well as an increase in checkpoints, bases and outposts, a situation that has affected movement and daily life in parts of the province.
