EU Reaffirms Support for Girls’ Education in Afghanistan Amid Taliban Restrictions

The European Union has reaffirmed its support for girls’ and women’s education in Afghanistan during the global campaign ’16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.’

As part of the worldwide ‘Orange the World’ initiative, the EU underscored that access to education for all—particularly Afghan women and girls—is crucial to reducing vulnerability and building a stable, violence-free future.

Amid continuing restrictions by the Taliban, which have banned girls from attending school beyond the sixth grade throughout Afghanistan, the EU expressed concern over the situation and emphasized the urgent need to restore Afghan women’s fundamental right to education.

Women’s rights activists and the international community have repeatedly condemned the Taliban’s increasing limitations and called for the immediate return of girls to schools and universities.
